March 14th, 2009

Tonight, 3 new members of CLASS ACT will make their debut appearance on stage with the band at their annual performance at Seven Sorrows in Middletown, PA. New Year's Eve was the final performance for long time members Chuck Ronemus, Dave Stewart and Les Markel. All decided to pursue other interests. Losing 3 members at the same time can be very crucial to an 8 piece band, unless of course, you're name is Bob Angelucci. He has a way of pulling things out of a hat, and once again, he has done just that. They have been rehearsing tirelessly for the past 3 months, just making sure that they continue with that power house sound that you expect of them. Nothing short of that, Bob has come up with that magic once again. Please join me in welcoming the newest members of CLASS ACT featuring Rita; BILL BOWER, JOHN GOSHKEY and GREG TOOLOUMES.

October 13th, 2007: Check out this review on last week's CLASS of 60 SOMETHIN'  show.

Review of the Class of '60 Somethin' Show and Dance, Oct. 6, 2007, York, PA

Last Saturday (Oct. 6, 2007), My buddy, Butch Halpin and I drove from North Carolina for over eight hours to get a little "soul injection" in York, PA.  Well, let me tell you...  we were not disappointed!!!  The Class of '60 Somethin' inoculated us with four hours of incredible soul music.  I've owned their CDs for several years and know what a great sound they put down in the studio, but that pales in comparison to seeing this group in person.  WOW!!!  What a sound!  "Class" is made up of members from four groups including three of the original Magnificent Men.  The core band was Class Act featuring Rita which was comprised of lead guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, two trumpets and tenor sax plus female vocalist Rita Angelucci.  Bob Angelucci (drums & Rita's husband) and Jim Seville (bass) were members of the Magnificent Men.  Additionally, there were three vocalists from Custer's Last Band, two vocalists from The Del-Chords and Buddy King (vocalist) from the Magnificent Men.  They rotated lead and back-up singing throughout the show.

Friends...  the show was an absolute KILLER!!!  I wish you all could have been there.  You would have thought you'd died and gone to soul music heaven.  They performed doo wop and soul music from the '50 and '60s.  The full rich sound was unbelievable!!!  They had as many as SEVEN vocalists singing harmony at one time... and this was exclusive of the seven musicians, of which several were also vocalists. Count 'em... that's FOURTEEN musicians and vocalists on stage at one time!!!  The sound system was fantastic... plenty huge and loud but not distorted... very professional.  Those people up "nawth" sure know how to party.  They filled the huge dance floor from the first note of the first song at 8:00 PM and didn't leave the floor, except for the band breaks, until the last note at midnight.

Butch and I got to meet and talk to three the original members of the Magnificent Men, Bob Angelucci (drums), Buddy King (lead & backup vocals, trumpet) and Jim Seville (bass) as well as the other members of "Class."  We also meet and chatted with Mike Leash who produces their CDs and shows.  They were all super nice to us.  They were really amazed and pleased that we drove over eight hours just to see and hear them.  They even invited us to come back in November for a special Magnificent Men concert being video taped for a documentary about the group.

Class of '60 Somethin' CDs are available through their website and they are fantastic.  http://www.classof60somethin.com/   If you get a chance, do NOT miss seeing this band in person!

A huge fan from down South...
